Hardiness Zone South West

Hardiness means the ability of a plant to withstand the cold. Choose plants with a hardiness zone number equal to or lower than the number for your area.

Use the map above and the color coded key to the left to find the approximate range of average annual minimum temperatures for  each zone.

These zones are a general guideline. They do not guarantee the safety of a crop, nor do they exclude crops from certain zones.

Many factors contribute to the success or failure of a crop including soil conditions, mild winters, cool summers, and  temperature variations within a zone for example, valley protection or hillside exposure.
