Small Fruit Plants

Following is our new list of small fruit bearing plants currently being offered. All are Northern grown and will be delivered as bare root stock. These quality plants often bear some fruit the first year of planting. Proper zones for growing are listed for each item.

BLUEBERRIES - ALL 12-18" $ 8.50 EACH

Blue Crop - Zone 3-7, Mid season bearer, consistent producer, disease resistant and high quality. Very large berries, good flavor, best when fresh, freezes well. Grows 4-6'.

Blue Ray - Zone 3-7, Mid season producer, high quality powder blue berries excellent for dessert. Burgundy foliage in fall. Upright growing habit to 5' high.

Chippewa - NEW ITEM - Zone 3-7. Another shrub type blueberry growing only 3-4 feet high and wide. Works well with North Blue as a pollinator. Produces 3 to 7 pounds of very sweet medium to large berries per year with little acid. Excellent quality! Plant as an ornamental , landscape shrub or of course for eating!

Jersey - Zone 3-7, It's a favorite of home gardeners, easy to grow.  Ripens later, small to medium berries very sweet in flavor.  Excellent for baking, reliable producer year after year.  Grows 4-5' tall.   

Nelson - Zone 3-7. A highly productive variety, claims of 13-18 lbs. of fruit picked per plant have been made. Produces a large, dark blue berry of very good quality. Plants grow to 5-6 ft. tall and berries ripen late July in central Wisconsin.

North Blue - Zone 3-8. Due to its mature height of only 3-4' at maturity, Northblue is often used as unique shrub in the landscape. Plants produce 3-7 lbs. of fruit per plant. Berries are of very good quality and blueberry flavor. Glossy, dark green leaves turn deep, bright red in fall. A great plant for food and attraction.

Northland- Zone 4-7, This blueberry is a hybrid growing only 3-4' with very limber branches. Fruit is medium to small having excellent wild berry flavor, great for pies and eating.

Patriot - Zone 3-7, Ripens early with tight clusters of very large berries. Excellent flavor for fresh eating or deserts. High producer with green foliage in summer, fiery orange in fall. Grows 4-6' tall.

Spartan - Zone 3-7, A vigorous and upright growing habit. Well adapted for machine harvesting. Fruit is firm, light blue, large and very good flavor. It is an early variety, ripening about mid July. It has the largest berries of all varieties.

NOTE: TWO OR MORE BLUEBERRY VARIETIES MUST BE PLANTED FOR PROPER POLLINATION AND PRODUCTION. Blueberries prefer an acid soil. Peat moss and aluminum sulfate boost soil acidity.

Beta - Zone 3-7, Another hearty grape for Northern climates, this Blue-black grape is excellent for juice or jelly. Vigorous grower.

Bluebell - Zone 4-8. Resembles Concord in size and color but has more tender skin and greater hardiness. Very good table quality, excellent sub for Concord in the North.

Concord - Zone 4-8, Blue-black, excellent for eating. Medium to large clusters. Berry size is medium to large. This has always been a favorite of wine makers.

Concord Seedless - Zone 5-8, Blue fruit resembles Concord in color and flavor but the clusters and berries are smaller. Berries are seedless. Excellent for pies, jams and jellies. 

Edelweiss - Zone 4-8, Greenish-white with high sugar content. Dessert and wine grape. Good flavor and quality.

Frontenac - Zone 4-8. A red wine grape developed by the U. of Minn., is very hardy to -30F. Produces excellent quality grapes, is a vigorous grower with good disease resistance to downy and powdery mildew.

Himrod Seedless - Not Available for Spring 2012 Zone 5-8, A very high quality yellow-gold grape of medium size, ripens a month before Concord. A hardy white seedless garden and table grape.

Kay Gray - Zone 4-8. This is a fine hardy white grape suited for table use and wine making. They are extremely sweet, grapes are medium to large, vines are very productive.

Marquette - Zone 4-8. This is an exceptional red grape that combines cold hardiness and disease resistance for the production of excellent grape. Tasters note an attractive deep red color with a desirable aroma of cherry and spice. Great for northern growers.

Reliance Seedless - Zone 5-8. A red, seedless table grape of high quality. Fruit is exceptionally suited for fresh eating and juice. Vines require annual pruning, adequate fertility and maximum sunlight.

Somerset Seedless - NEW ITEM Zone 4-8. A beautiful red seedless grape developed in Wisconsin. Berries have a great strawberry like flavor and are edible at the pink stage in late August, but aquires a much sweeter taste when fully ripe. Fruit is small to medium in size, growing in compact clusters.quite disease resistant.

St. Theresa Seedless - NEW ITEM Zone 4-8. Another new variety born and bred in Wisconsin. This purple slip skinnned grape has excellent flavor and serves as an early table grape. Plants provide an abundance of high qulaity fruit and are grow wonderfully on arbors.

Swenson Red - Zone 4-8, Red, with high sugar content. A large round grape with crisp yet tender texture. Hardy to 30 degrees below zero.

Valiant Blue - Zone 3-6, Blue grape exceeds Beta in flavor, quality and hardiness. Matures earlier, is vine productive and bears annually. Round fruit up to 1/2" in diameter.

Wordon - Zone 4-8, A blue-black New York grape similar to Concord. However, fruit is larger, of higher quality and ripens about two weeks earlier than Concord. Vigorous and hardy vines produce exceptional grapes for wine, juice, and eating.

CURRENTS

Red Lake Current - Zone 3-7, Clusters of large bright red berries borne on 2-3 year old wood. Semi-erect and vigorous. Very productive. Fruits are good for jams and jellies.  Grows to 3-6'.

Consort Current - - Zone 3-7, A self fertile black current ripening late in the season.  Strong flavor, medium size and borne in clusters.  These plants are very productive , immune to white pine blister rust and powdery mildew.

GOOSEBERRY

Pixwell Gooseberry (Ribes pixwell): Zones 3-7 Growing 3-5 ft., it is very productive bearing fruit on 2-3 yr. old wood. Pale green fruit turns pink to purple when ripe, medium size, good flavor.

Hinnomaki Gooseberry : Zone 4-6. A favorite of many home gardeners, Hinnomaki is a productive plant yielding large red fruit of outstanding flavor.

Boyne Red Raspberry: Zone 3-8. A Canadian development in 1960, Boyne is a medium to large red fruit with aromatic flavor. Vigorous, evect and sturdy canes are very productive and hardy. Excellent berry for canning, freezing and dessert.

Heritage Red Raspberry: Zone 4-8. An everbearing variety with vigorous upright canes. Produces large, firm, bright red berries. Good quality and flavor. First fruit mid-July, second crop early September.

Latham Red Raspberry: Zone 3-8. Unsurpassed in vigor and hardiness. Produces good sized berries over long period. Excellent flavor for pies, jam, jelly and dessert. It is grown for both home and commercial use.

Black Hawk Black Raspberry: Zone 3-8. Best all purpose black raspberry, the best choice for canning.  Disease resistant and produces large, firm ebony berries that hold their shape.  This berry has been successfully grown in Canada. 

Brandywine Raspberry: Zone 4-8. A hybrid cross of black and red raspberry, producing a large rich full flavored purple fruit. High quality, insect resistant, hardy, and very adaptable. Unsurpassed for jam, jelly, and pies. Ripens mid-season.    

Bristol Black Raspberry: Zone 4-8. A 1934 New York introduction, fruit is large with attractive glossy skin. Excellent quality, flavor and ripens mid season. Canes are hardy and vigorous, berries are great for pies, jam or jelly or simply eating fresh. 

Cumberland Black Raspberry: - Zone 3-8. Most popular black raspberry.  Upright plants sets loads of large ebony fruits with great flavor and few seeds.  This berry has been successfully grown in Canada.

Fall Gold Raspberry: Zone 4-9. Very prolific. Produces two crops, one in July, the second in September. Large golden berries are sweet as honey and very juicy. Excellent for desserts, jam and jelly.

Royalty Raspberry: Not Available for Spring 2012 Zone 4-8. A hybrid cross of black and red raspberries, producing large rich full-flavored purple fruit. High quality, insect resistant, hardy, and very adaptable. Unsurpassed for jam, jelly, and pies. Ripens mid-season. 

Darrow Blackberry: Zone 3-8. This berry has proven to be the most reliable producer of large crops of top quality fruit grown successfully North into Canada. Berries measure 1" long and 3/4" wide, are attractive, firm, juicy and have honey sweet, true balckberry flavor. Excellent for all purposes. Plants are hardy, rust resistant and produce well at an early age. SPECIAL PRICING 2 plants for $ 10.50, 5 plants for $ 24.00, 10 plants for $ 40.00

Stenulson Blackberry: Not Available for Spring 2012 Zone: 3-7. This is a Woodstock Nursery selection of wild blackberry which grows locally in our Zone 3 micro climate. Plants are very hardy and productive year after year for us. Berries are large, plump, juicy and very flavorful. Excellent for pies, jelly and wine. No disease problems have been observed.

Once again, we have selected varieties that prove to be of exceptional quality and very productive. We hope you agree.

EarliglowMany consider this variety to be the best flavored berry of all.  It is the earliest producing with size decreasing as the season progresses.  Widely planted in the Midwest and Northeast due to its fantastic flavor.

HoneoyeThis June bearer is considered by many as the best tasting strawberries ever produced.  Heavy yield of conical shaped, firm, juicy berries of good size.  Excellent disease resistance and self pollinating.

Ozark BeautyPerhaps the finest of everberring strawberries. Produces large, uniform berries with honeysweet flavor. Rich red color throughout. Excellent for fresh eating, freezing and desserts of all types.

QuinaltNot Available for Spring 2012 An everbearing variety that begins producing fruit 4 to 5 weeks after planting on unrooted runners. Excellent in hanging baskets, for ground cover or border plantings. Produces tasty berries of medium size.

Red Chief One of the oldest commercially grown strawberries, it is still considered one of the best June bearers.  Produces medium to large berries of very good quality and flavor.  Excellent for freezing.

SurecropThis strawberry lives up to its name.  A favorite with home gardeners because of it's vigorous growth habits make it easy to grow and produces good crops in almost any type soil.  Good firm solid fruit make it excellent for fresh eating or the freezer.

Tri-StarNot Available for Spring 2012 An everbearing variety producing medium size berries of the highest quality even in the first year. Excellent sweet flavor with red color throughout. Produces heavy in Spring, light in Summer and a good yield in the Fall.


"Pilgrim Cranberry "

PRICE: $ 6.50 Each (Greenhouse Grown, Potted)

(Vaccinium macrocarpon) Zone 3-7. A true cranberry, Pilgrim grows to a height of only 8-10 inches. Plants spread outward forming a thick mat of vines and delicate leaves. This variety may be grown on moist or upland soils. Fruit produced is bright red, berries are generally quite large and have great flavor for processing. Easily harvested by hand, fruit ripens in late fall. Plants may be used uniquely for landscaping and provide excellent ground cover. Available for Fall or Spring.
